Simply amazing

It's amazing that he can play this complicated piece by heart in 6 days. However, I was trained at Moscow Conservatory and it was not unusual that you get kicked out of class if you cannot memorize any piece given a few days ago. In one occasion I had to memorize Schumann Five Pieces in Folk Style in less than 24 hours before the concert at which my professor assigned me and forgot.

They play Beethoven as Polycarp and Ignatius, the very pupil of St. John, read the Gospel according to St. John. Other recordings are like really good Theologians interpreting the Gospel but Shafran and Zecchi are like "Beethoven knows us."

Достанет ли отразить своим звуком такое волшебство нынешним малость зажиревшим скрипачам? - вот вопрос...в них нет и навряд будет вот этот неповторимый налёт легендарности - ибо искусство исполнения Шеринга многим сейчас недосягаемо. Это факт - чего бы там ни писалось на афишах концертов...лауреатство и всё прочее. Многие, как подросший мальчик Репин или Венгеров, так и останутся в этом малышами. Главное, тон и звук Шеринга настолько неповторимы - нет звуковых нажимов и всяких пережимов...наверное, это и есть искусство. Шеринг здесь по-своему недосягаем. Это правда. При всех нынешних возможностях цветного телевидения и звуковых эффектов эта давняя черно-белая запись со слабым звуком мне куда дороже - честное слово...здесь виден и слышен ярчайший и внешне очень гармоничный музыкант 20 века !!!

Ein großer russischer Musiker hat mal gesagt: einen wirklich großen Meister erkennt man schon beim Stimmen. Nun ja... Und dann - wie kann man vor DIESEM Stück so eine Clownerie mit dem Stuhl abziehen?? Das größte Requiem nach Mozart! Die geigerische und gesamte interpretatorische "Leistung" dieser traurigen Karikatur bedarf keines Kommentars.

Gitlis fut un grand violoniste dans sa jeunesse ,mais jouer même âgé la sonate de Franck de cette façon tzigane avec un son tellement agressif ne rime à rien c'est assez honteux !! Gitlis est décédé ,c'est triste car le personnage était très attachant ,mais reconnaissons qu'à la fin de sa carrière il ne savait plus jouer proprement ....... la sympathie ne fait hélas pas tout . Il faut absolument écouter ses enregistrements de jeunesse ,là c'était très beau .
